This application is designed for farmers, ranchers, and livestock producers who want the capability to scan a barcode tag on their livestock and record/track important data about each one. Using the smartphone's camera, the barcode number is captured. Along with the scan code data, the time/date of the scan and user input data are saved on the device's SD card. This data file can be retrieved later by connecting via USB connection to a PC. The application also has the capability to email the data file as an attachment. The data file is in a format which easily imports in common spreadsheet programs for further processing. Additional details can be found in the Livestock application's help menu. This application works in conjunction with a free Android Market application called Barcode Scanner created by ZXing, a market leader in barcode scanning technology. If not already installed on your device, the Livestock application will automatically install this program with your permission.The most common practical uses for livestock barcode tags are with cattle(beef and dairy), goats, sheep, hogs, and poultry(broilers, egg layers, turkeys).
