1. Inicie em Modo Recovery, volume menos e power;
2. Vá em "install from sdcard" e instale o kernel que tem formato zip;
3. Após instalar reinicie, "reboot system now".

O que é kernel? é importante atualizar a kernel? comprei um z2 e muita coisa (99%) é desconhecido pra mim rs.

Kernel é o que comanda os processadores do dispisitivo. Sim é importante para remover os bugs. Lembrando que ao instalar você perde a garantia, pois tem que desbloquear o bootloader.
