DescriçãoThank you for considering the new free Happy Birding Journal!
This is a powerful app for helping you track your birds from anywhere and anytime using your Android phone. This is not a field guide for identification but rather a way to track your birding experiences. Start the application and your checklist is ready to use. To the paid version, we are adding more checklists all the time and if there is one you would like to see, please let us know.
Type in a name of a bird and your GPS can pinpoint your location or you can type in any location name you want to use such as "my backyard", "state park" or "friends house".
Auto complete can help you to fill in your species entry from the checklist you have selected. Your bird can now be checked off in your checklist.
In the paid version you can also change checklists for different locations. Say you live in a certain state and you travel to another for business or vacation. You can change the checklist to that state and sort your information to record that period of time separately. Then when you get back home, save your checklist, then simply change back to your regular checklist.
From your daily or casual list called 'My Birds' or your 'Life List', you can sort your information for any time period you choose. You can make it daily, weekly, monthly, yearly or select the dates and create your own custom time period.
In the paid version you can share your birding information with other Happy Birding Journal users around the world to help them pinpoint great places for finding interesting or unique birds birds and you can see what birds other users are finding with the "Share Bird" feature. Use the "Life List" feature to keep a running list of all the birds that you have seen over your lifetime.
The best new feature of all is that you can now save and backup your bird data to your home computer. You can use this data to restore your information to your Happy Birding Journal app if you should lose your Android smartphone or get a new one. You can also use this information on your computer in a spreadsheet file. OpenOffice.org has a good free spreadsheet reader.
This is a great tool for the beginner birder or the seasoned bird watcher.
